PatientFYI Interview
How does your office help a patient understand their costs for Services, payment plan options, or use of their dental insurance?
We always let out guests know what their estimated dental benefits and out-of-pocket cost will be. We file their insurance claims for them, and we present any financing options that are available.
How do you educate your patients about the treatments they need and how to keep problems from reoccurring?
We utilize guest education technology (videos, animations, etc.) We present key information verbally, and also provide handouts and/or pamphlets to take home discussing treatment causes and what to expect. We demonstrate proper techniques, and we will recommend products to help maintain good oral hygiene.
What do you do when there are multiple treatment options available for a patient's dental condition?
We know understanding all treatments options can be overwhelming. We first try to understand what our guest’s personal goals and wishes are; we then discuss all treatment options. We tailor treatment plans that best match their goals, and then work with them to determine which plan best meets their individual needs.
What labs do you use for your restoration services (e.g. Crowns & Bridges) and do you provide patients with a choice of labs?
We utilize local and U.S.-based Labs that meet our high standards for our guests care. For crown and bridge work we primarily use Dobbs Dental Ceramics, Glen Douglas Studio, and Dental Ceramics. For our removable prosthetics we use Fairlane Dental Lab. If our guest has a request for a certain lab we will accommodate them, but will also show the quality of work our labs provide.
What kind of sedation & comfort techniques do you utilize?
We understand how uneasy some guest's may feel about their dental visits, and how we can make a difference in providing a relaxing and positive experience. We do offer full sedation dentistry utilizing oral medication, and the latest monitoring equipment for their safety. We also provide the following services to make our guest's visit as easy and stress free as possible: *Headphones with your own personal iPod *Eye pillows *Blankets *Heated neck wraps *Paraffin hand treatments *Heated refreshing hand and face towels *Sedation and sleep dentistry *Dr’s Personal Cell phone numbers in case of an emergency.
Do you treat children and, if so, how do you help them feel comfortable?
We do treat children in our practice. Dr. J.D.’s gentle demeanor is amazing when it comes to caring for children. We provide the children with a pillow, a blanket, an iPod, and sometimes if wanted, we offer nitrous oxide. The most important thing we do is the actual talking with the kids to earn their trust. We allow them to ask questions, and we tell them exactly what we are doing every step of the way so there is no reason for them to be nervous.
What is your Appointment Cancellation Policy?
We ask our guests to provide us 2-business day notice when canceling an appointment. This allows us to accommodate other guests who may be waiting for an appointment. However, we do understand situations can arise where this is not possible and do take that into consideration.

Medical Education
 Dr. John was educated at Notre Dame, University of Michigan, Creighton Medical School, and the Center for Advanced Dental Study.
Special Training
 Dr. John has even taken his degrees further by continuing with an additional twenty years of post-doctoral training in implants, conscious sedation, orthodontics, porcelain, and esthetics. For the past 25 years, he has worked to perfect sedation dentistry, complex restorative surgery and rehabilitation, temporalmandibular joint syndrome (TMJ), facial, neck and head pain, and facial esthetics. Dr. John is working on becoming a board certified member of the American Association of Sleep Medicine to treat sleeping disorders such as snoring, and sleep apnea.
Personal Background
 Meet Dr. John Robison. He's intensely passionate, and always driven, delving into each endeavor with caring, loyalty and commitment. With the consideration he brings to his practice, you'd think he was married to his work. But in fact he's been married to Marilynn Robison for 40 years. He and Marilynn have three sons: Braden, Cortny and John Derrick. He considers himself proud, delighted and lucky to have the privilege of John Derrick - JD for short - as his partner at Robison Dental

Mia is a U of M graduate from the School of Dentistry practicing dental hygiene with our practice for over 20 years. She enjoys the close contact we have with our patients, spanning generations and meeting a variety of dental needs.



Claudia , Dental Hygienist

Claudia is a registered dental hygienist with a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Detroit Mercy. Prior to becoming a dental hygienist she was a certified dental assistant. She has enjoyed being with our practice for the last seventeen years. Her goal as a hygienist is to treat each of her patients as individuals, and help them maintain a healthy, beautiful smile that they are proud of.

Paula's love for dentistry is still strong after 20 years. She enjoys providing excellent patient care and developing lasting relationships with each and every guest.
