A crown is a restoration that covers a tooth to restore it to its normal shape and size, strengthening and improving the appearance of a tooth. Crowns are necessary when a tooth is generally broken down and fillings won't solve the problem. If a tooth is cracked, a crown holds the tooth together to seal the cracks so the damage doesn't get worse.

A dental implant is a prosthetic tooth root, surgically placed in the bone that serves as the foundation for either a permanent or removable replacement tooth. Implants function the same as normal teeth and offer significant advantages over removable dentures. Implants, compared to dentures or bridges, are more comfortable, easier to speak with, and better for overall oral health. Prospective patients for implants must be healthy enough to undergo the procedure, have enough bone and gum structure to hold the implant, and be dedicated to maintaining good oral hygiene and regular dentist appointments.

If you’ve lost all of your natural teeth, whether from periodontal disease, tooth decay or injury, complete dentures can replace your missing teeth and your smile. Replacing missing teeth will benefit your appearance and your health. Without support from the denture, facial muscles sag, making a person look older. You’ll be able to eat and speak—things that people often take for granted until their natural teeth are lost.
